about

capturing the essence

Hi, I'm Roo. I guess I've been taking pictures since my dad showed me the magic of black and white photo development in the kitchen when I was a kid, but it's in the last 10 years or so where I found my true creative passion: automotive portraits.

My earliest car memory is of a Scalecraft model E Type whizzing around in circles on the kitchen floor one Christmas many moons ago. Ever since, the smell of a well fettled carb, the whine of a blower, or the guttural rumblings of a V8 have done funny things to the back of my neck.

When it comes to portraits, the importance of details cannot be overstated. A great photo should not only capture the subject's appearance, but also evoke a feeling or emotion such that it forces you look deeper.

Whether it's the sleek, curvaceous lines of a '57 Corvette, the unique intricacies which make up the rocker linkage on an Edwardian racing monster, or the designed-by-ruler brutalism of a Series II Lagonda, the details and emotions make all the difference and it is these that I strive to capture. If you have a vehicle which you can't help but look back at when you walk away, please get in touch here and let's immortalise it on your wall.
